The COMMISSION for A NEW GEORGIA is an independent council of top-level executives from all parts of Georgia, which acts as a “real-world consultant” to state government on management and performance. Appointed by Governor Perdue, Commission members bring fresh eyes and ideas to ways government can manage assets and operations to increase efficiency, reduce costs and improve service. Since 2003, the Commission has launched 24 fast-track task forces to analyze a wide range of government functions. Altogether, nearly 400 Georgians from private enterprise and consultants from the nation’s top management firms have served on these fact-finding, problem-solving teams. The task forces have produced 130 actionable recommendations to improve cost savings and customer service in government and to open new opportunities for a growing economy. These recommendations are now being put into effect through the Governor's Office of Implementation. The Commission’s operation and small staff are privately funded, and all CNG members, task force participants, and consultants work pro bono.
